In an interview with HT Lifestyle, Dr. Manisha Mishra MD, Ayurveda Medical Advisor at Charak Pharma, said, “Ayurveda, our ancient medical science, believes in maintaining a balance of functional elements (Vata, Pitta, Kapha also known as doshas) in the body because an imbalance in the same leads to disease and compromises the immune system, causing multiple health problems.”

1. A well-balanced diet: Ayurveda recommends a well balanced meal including the 6 tastes like sweet, sour, salty, pungent, astringent and bitter in meals for better immunity and good health. Also eat mindfully and avoid binging.
2. Ghee or clarified butter: Ayurveda believes that accumulation of toxins leads to allergies and ghee can neutralize most toxins affecting the body. So add a spoonful of ghee to your meals for a strong immune system. It is also great for improving gut health, improving skin radiance, and boosting memory.
3. Probiotic: Don’t forget to incorporate natural probiotic foods, but prefer buttermilk to curds (curds are heavy to digest and cause mucus), pickles and other fermented foods that improve gut health.
4. Rejuvenating herbs or rasayan: Rasayan or rejuvenating herbs are known for their anti-aging, memory enhancing and immune system boosting properties. She added: “Incompatible combinations of foods like milk and fresh fruits, non-vegetarian foods cooked with milk or cream and honey with hot water are not recommended in Ayurveda as they trigger allergic conditions.”
Elaborating on the list of Ayurvedic dietary advice, Dr. Chanchal Sharma, Ayurvedic expert at Aasha Ayurveda, claimed that our eating habits are the biggest contributor to the deterioration of our body’s health and if our eating habits are not good, we can’t even keep ourselves healthy. if we want. “In Ayurveda, to correct these habits and keep the body fit, the emphasis is on the diurnal regimen, sleeping pattern and seasonal pattern. Highlighting the basics, Dr. Chanchal Sharma pointed out that Ayurveda firmly believes that good health begins with good nutrition, good nutrition is the foundation of a strong digestive system, a balanced diet, according to the principles of Ayurveda meets our individual and physical needs and that a nutritious diet acts as medicine to promote vitality.
Listing the main healthy tips of Ayurveda, she suggested:
1. Eat only when hungry – when your previous meal is fully digested.
2. Eat somewhere quiet and comfortable.
3. Do not worry about anything while eating.
4. Eat food in a sitting position only and do not watch TV, avoid reading books, using the phone, working on a laptop while eating.
5. The proportion of food should be one third of your hunger. We are all different, born with different needs, different stomach sizes and different digestive powers. So listen to your body and eat according to your needs.
6. Eat cool, hot foods. Avoid fermented foods as much as possible.
7. Eat quality foods – Make sure your foods are juicy or slightly fatty as this will aid digestion and improve nutrient absorption. Avoid foods that are too dry.
8. Ghee should be added to your diet.
9. Do not eat incompatible foods together. This can lead to stomach upset and disrupt your body’s doshas. Some incompatible foods are fruits and milk, fish and milk, salted products with milk, etc.
10. Do not eat food too early and too late. Because do it; can upset your digestive system.
